You can find my web log by clicking on this link - www.davidcharlton.blogspot.com I know it's a cliché to have a blog these days, but I created one for an outlet to say whatever happens to be on my mind. The title is Just Getting Some Things Off My Chest. I generally post comments on religion and politics, and more to the point, the intersection between the two. I am disturbed by the increasing connection between Christianity and a particularly partisan view. Many of my friends in the religious community assume the words Republican and Christian are interchangeable; I couldn't disagree more. The Christian faith is not bound to one political party (that goes for the Democrats as well) or ideology and it is time to separate Christianity and partisan politics. Contrary to popular opinion, this country was not founded as a Christian nation, but as a nation where people could be free to follow their own religious opinions and beliefs without fear of persecution. This religious liberty, I believe, has created the incredibly vibrant environment of faith in America, and by combining faith and partisan politics we run the risk of ultimately harming the cause of Christianity.
