Personal Profile

An American Fender Stratocaster; I believe it is a 1999 model year.  A versatile, classic guitar that I love to play.  I am insistent upon the maple necks on a Stratocaster and Telecaster as they provide the classic Fender sound.  Besides, how can you go wrong when you look at the guitarists who are/have been Strat players - Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Beck and my favorite Strat player, David Gilmour.

An American Fender Telecaster, also a 1999 model year, I think.  Again, the maple neck really gives it that wonderful Fender snap.  This is my "go to guitar."  Back in the 70's I couldn't imagine why anyone would play a guitar that I believed was for country players only.  Oh, was I wrong.  Nine out of ten times when I pick up one of my electrics it's this guitar.  Probably the best all-around guitar ever made.  A true classic.

A 1991 Paul Reed Smith CE 24.  A PRS, what more can I say?  An elegant guitar and a monster guitar for rock and roll (as well as lots of other styles).  The bridge pick-up is a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates; very hot and of course it sounds great on LaGrange, Tush and all those other great ZZ Top songs.  Back in the summer of 1977 I bought a 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom.  It was black and an absolutely beautiful guitar.  Foolishly, I traded it sometime around 1989 or 1990 for a pointy-headed Charvel Model 5.  The Charvel was a very nice guitar, but looking back it was not the best decision I ever made, as the Les Paul has appreciated in value significantly and will continue to do so.  The good news is I was very fortunate to trade the Charvel for this PRS; not a bad trade.  I love this guitar, and it is very cool to have a PRS hanging on my wall.  It doesn't go out of the house unless it can stay within my sight and please don't ask to borrow it!  (Unless you are a member of the band East 146; it's on their Serendipity CD.  Check out their web site at www.east146.com)
