This goal of this short series was to examine some of the common images churches have of themselves. The images we use to define ourselves will determine how churches function. If, for example, our image is that of a family (which is not, by the way, a primary image of the church in the New Testament) then our concern will gravitate toward matters such as taking care of the family and commissioning the pastor to be the family chaplain.
